H.E. Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development in Abu Dhabi (DCD), said that the Commemoration Day honours the sacrifices of the UAE’s heroes, the martyrs who sacrificed their lives in the name of truth, preserving the nation’s interests, and protecting its security and leading position.
H.E. Dr. Al Khaili said: “On this day, we renew our pride and gratitude to the sincere efforts of our countrymen. We remember the sacrifices of our martyrs and keep them all in mind. We also pay tribute to the leaders, officers and soldiers of the armed forces, and our nationals who work across security, humanitarian and civilian fields.”
“The decision of H.H. Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, to make the 30th of November a national occasion honours the country’s loyal martyrs alongside with other initiatives that treasure their sacrifices and their families. Among the initiatives, which H.H. Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, has issued to be implemented, include the establishment of a memorial for the martyrs in Abu Dhabi and the creation of an office affiliated to His Highness’s Court, the Abu Dhabi Crown Prince’s Court (CPC), to ensure the wellbeing of the martyrs’ families,” Al Khaili commented.
He highlighted that these initiatives demonstrate the wise leadership’s commitment to honour the nation’s martyrs, immortalize their bravery in people’s memory and encourage everyone living in the UAE to do their best to preserve the country’s achievements and maintain its unity.
The DCD Chairman concluded: “We express our gratitude and appreciation to the families of the martyrs. We highly remember their sacrifices and heroism, which will remain a beacon of inspiration for all of us to fulfil our responsibilities in order to maintain the achievements for which they sacrificed their lives and to sustain the prosperity, progress and leadership of our homeland.”
