The Department of Community Development (DCD), in cooperation and coordination with the Majalis Abu Dhabi, organized a Ramadan lecture on the theme of ‘Organizing Fundraising Activities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi – Your Donation is a Trust’ at the Al-Manhal Council, in the presence of department officials and employees as well as members of the general public.

While delivering the welcome address, Saeed Mubarak Bin Amro, Director of the Social Control at DCD Abu Dhabi, expressed the department’s keenness to enhance communication with the general public and to highlight the services and initiatives provided by the department to deliver dignified living standards for all members of society.

He said the department, as the organizer of the social sector agenda in Abu Dhabi, seeks to promote a culture of giving and community contribution in accordance with the legal frameworks and legislation in force in the UAE capital.

Bin Amro praised the efforts of neighborhood authorities in Abu Dhabi in establishing these councils, which act as a meeting place for community members and contribute strongly and positively to increasing communication between the public and government agencies.

For his part, Mohammed Alzaabi, Head of the Licensing of Social Contributions at DCD, shed light on organizing fundraising activities in Abu Dhabi, especially within the context of Federal Law No. 3 of 2021 regarding organizing donations and its executive regulations.

He also reviewed the licensed entities in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi, in addition to the controls for sending and presenting external donations, and the efforts made by the department to control and supervise fundraising activities so as to ensure compliance with the regulations of the law and to avoid the stipulated penalties and sanctions.

AlZaabi also outlined Ramadan customs and common behaviors related to fundraising donations.

At the end of the meeting, the DCD officials thanked and appreciated the attendees for their interaction and keenness to communicate with the department to benefit all members of society.
