His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the Department of Community Development (DCD) in Abu Dhabi, said: “Zayed Humanitarian Work Day falls on the 19th of Ramadan each year, corresponding to death anniversary of the UAE’s founding father, Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan. It is one of the most important occasions for the nation as it highlights his humanitarian principles and work that have become a global model. He believed in providing assistance to all that needed it, regardless of their ethnicity and religion, thus making the UAE a symbol of love, peace and tolerance.

“Sheikh Zayed was an exceptional leader who created a prefect global model in humanitarian work that has become a global model, while his humanitarian, social and developmental principles formed the foundation of the UAE and have served as a guideline to building the society.” 

H.E. Al Khaili stressed that Zayed Humanitarian Work Day is a perfect occasion to commit to humanitarian and charitable work by all entities in the UAE and start practicing these values in daily life. 

He pointed out that since establishment, DCD has made sure to adopt Sheikh Zayed’s lofty principles to carry out its work, which reflects in the lives of community members. The department strengthened community contribution and encouraged volunteering in an attempt to inculcate the spirit of responsibility and giving in community members.
