Abu Dhabi

The Department of Community Development (DCD) hosted a delegation from the Riyadh Region Municipality, in line with the DCD’s efforts to cooperate with partners at local, regional, and international levels.

The delegation was received by His Excellency Dr. Mugheer Khamis Al Khaili, Chairman of the DCD; His Excellency Eng. Hamad Al Dhaheri, Undersecretary of the DCD; His Excellency Abdulla Al Ameri, Director General of Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, and a number of executive directors in the department.

During the meeting, DCD highlighted the agenda, policies and strategies of Abu Dhabi’s social sector, which showcased its commitment to cooperating with authorities to provide high-quality social services to various groups of society and ensuring a dignified life for all.

The DCD highlighted the quality-of-life questionnaire, which is a main measurement tool adopted by the department to get the opinions of community members on various topics and social issues. It also shared the most prominent results during the hosted sessions, in addition to the most significant strategies and initiatives launched by the department based on the results of the questionnaire.

Additionally, the DCD reviewed the achievements of the social sector over the past three years, and the impact delivered from those achievements.

The most prominent social challenges in Abu Dhabi and the solutions developed by the department in cooperation with partners were discussed, in addition to reviewing best practices to improve the quality of social services by building fruitful partnerships.

The Saudi delegation was briefed on the Abu Dhabi Social Support Authority, and the role it plays in improving the standard of living by providing support to families who fall below dignified living standards. They also reviewed the efforts made to empower individuals, and the financial guidance programs that aim to enhance awareness among individuals who benefit from those programs.

During the Saudi delegation visit, the DCD was keen to shed light on the ambitious role of the third sector in Abu Dhabi, in addition to the plans implemented by the department to build a sustainable third sector that contributes to the promotion of economic and social development in the Emirate.

In line with the Riyadh Municipality’s vision and mission to upgrade the city by promoting sustainable urban development, providing high-quality services and building effective partnerships towards a vibrant society, the visit of the Saudi delegation to the DCD contributed to highlighting the best social practices and the latest trends in the Saudi social sector.
